Ryan – 4 Years, 1 Month Old

Let me start off by saying that I know it’s ridiculous for me to keep doing monthly updates on Ryan since he is over 4 years old now.  I keep telling myself that I will just start updating periodically with his milestones and funny stuff, but I know if I don’t make myself do it monthly then it will never be done and I will forget what he is like at this age.  So, for now I’m going to continue on with the monthly updates.  I know one day I will be glad I did!

Ryan weighs 34.5 lbs.  I am not sure of his height and he doesn’t have his 4-year appointment till March.  He wears all 4T clothing and it seems like most of his pants are too short for him, so I’m guessing he’s a little taller than average.

Ryan is still a night owl!  I keep thinking that one day he will go to bed at a decent time but I think I better come to the realization that it will never happen and that I will have to fight with him every night to get him in bed!  The good thing is that he normally goes to sleep easily after I read him his two books and he normally sleeps through the night … so I guess I shouldn’t complain about him staying up late.  Ever since Christmas he has wanted to sleep with his light saber so I let him.  He usually plays with it for a few minutes and then puts it down beside him to go to sleep.  And occasionally he will wake up in the middle of the night and want a piece of bread.  I always give in because I'm always tired and just want to go back to bed.  One morning when I got him out of bed, I found that he had taken a bite out of the bread and then fallen asleep on it!

Ryan is so much fun at this age.  He has a great little personality and is super funny.  Almost every picture I take of him, he has some silly face going on.  I love every second of his silliness, though!

He loves his new games he got for Christmas, especially Uno Moo.  It amazes me that he already knows how to cheat at it, though!  Little stinker!

A couple of weeks ago, I got a text from Lori at preschool saying that Ryan had peed on the playground in front of the girls!  I was shocked … but I could not quit laughing at work!  When he first started potty training we told him that he could use the bathroom outside at our house since we live in the country.  And we told him that he wasn’t to use it outside anywhere else except for his grandparent’s houses. Obviously he forgot about that part!  I never dreamed he would use the bathroom at preschool … especially in front of girls!  He was put in timeout in preschool and we both had a talk with him at home. I asked him why he did it and he said, “I had to go to the bathroom REALLY bad!”  I told him that next time that happened to please let one of the teachers know.  Silly boy!

Ryan made a gingerbread house at preschool.  Notice Zubert (The Elf on the Shelf) behind it – He was trying to eat the candy that morning!)

If we ever want to make Ryan happy when we get home, all it takes is us parking outside of the garage.  He gets so happy and always tells me, “Thank you for parking outside, mommy!”  Not sure why he loves it so much!

Ryan has started hiding from me in the house, especially when it’s time to get ready for bed.  He always squeezes in his closet, behind the door, or under the table. I just have to wait a few seconds and he always starts laughing and gives himself away!

Ryan is still as sweet as they come.  He is always hugging me and telling me he loves me. One day I made him promise that when he grew up he would still be this sweet!

Ryan still loves giving hugs to Maisie and wants to do it constantly and he will always entertain her when I ask him to.  Often when she is crying, he will start crying too because she makes him sad. He is just a great big brother!

Ryan loves to ride his bike around the couch and have Maisie chase (scoot) after him.  They both laugh and laugh and can play this game for a long time together.

Ryan’s favorite song right now is ‘Pontoon’ by Little Big Town.  He thinks he has to listen to it every time we get in the car.

Ryan calls Maisie ‘Little Fella’ all the time!

Ryan loves root beer.

Ryan loves puzzles.  He can put together his 48 piece pirate puzzle all by himself!

We had our first snow of the season a few weeks ago.  There wasn’t a lot, but Ryan was very excited about it.  Since Micah wasn’t feeling well, I was forced to go out in the cold with Ryan.  He loved eating icicles and playing in the snow for the few minutes we were out there … and got very made when I told him it was time to come in.

Here is Ryan at 4 years, 1 month old.  The pictures keep on getting harder and harder to get. I had to bribe him with gummy worms to get this month’s!

I'm obviously way behind on reading. He is such a handsome little guy! I think it's smart that you do the monthly updates. I wish I at least did quarterly ones because I'm so forgetful, but I can't even get around to that!
