Maisie is now 11 months old. I am super late with getting this written, so hopefully I can remember what all she is doing now.
Maisie nurses in the morning and night and has 3-4 bottles at daycare. I reluctantly gave up pumping at work because I was only able to produce enough for one bottle every 3-4 days, so she now gets all formula at daycare. She eats breakfast, lunch (whatever the older kids are having), and then eats dinner at home. She eats pretty much anything, but when she doesn’t like something she is getting really good at pulling it out of her mouth and throwing it on the floor! Her favorite foods this month are bananas, yogurt, and toasted cheese sandwiches. She usually eats what we are having for dinner, so she has tried many new things this month – one of her favorite ones was lasagna.
She now gets bottles during the day at home. I almost always try to hold her while she is eating, but occasionally let her lay down and feed herself. I think it’s adorable how she feeds herself. I love the way her little fingers wrap around the bottle … so precious!
She is still sleeping very well. She normally is in bed by 8 or 8:30pm and sleeps until I wake her up around 6:40am. Right after the first of the year she decided she wanted to be a night owl and there were several days that she didn’t go to sleep until almost 10pm. At daycare she takes one nap (between 1.5 and 3 hours) and at home she is still taking two naps (combined 4-6 hours). I rock her every night, although I hardly ever rock her to sleep. She is quick to let me know when she is tired of rocking by leaning over and putting her arm out towards her bed. This usually happens about one minute into our rocking. And if I try to rock her and she isn’t ready for bed yet she will throw her pacifier on the floor and start crying until I get up from the chair and take her out of her bedroom! She still takes a pacifier but only for naps and night time.
Maisie now has 4 teeth … the top two and the bottom two.
Maisie has had a cold for almost this whole month. She got over it once but within 1 week it was back again. A cough and runny nose were her main symptoms. When she would sneeze, snot would pour out of her nose. It was quite challenging in the car when she would sneeze. I would immediately ask Ryan if she had snot and if she did, I would reach back to her carseat with a kleenex, attempt to find her nose without taking my eyes off the road, and wipe it before she wiped it with her own hand. One day Ryan said, “Mom, she has BIG snot!” Fun times!
Maisie’s main mode of transportation is still the army crawl, although she has got up on her hands and knees a few times and crawled a little bit.
The day after she turned 10 months she started pulling up on things. She now does it constantly and would rather be standing up than sitting down, although she has to be holding on to something to stand up as she definitely is not stable enough to stand up by herself.
Maisie is constantly chattering, although most of what she says we can’t understand. She waves and says ‘hi’ and ‘bye’. She also says ‘mama’, ‘dada’, ‘Ry-Ry’. I’m pretty sure she tries to say ‘all done’ when she is done with her food and ‘ni-ni’ when she is going to bed.
Maisie is starting to hear the word ‘no’ a lot and she knows what it means, although she still thinks it is pretty funny most of the time. When she has something that she isn’t supposed to, I will tell her no and she usually turns around and smiles at me. Although if it is said with a firm tone, she usually gets a pouty lip and starts crying.
Maisie loves to dance. If music comes on and we tell her to dance, she always will. She bobs her head with a huge smile on her face. Granny Joy got her a Dora book that has a little thing that plays music with it. This is one of her favorite toys now. She loves to play the music and dance along to it.
She loves playing on beds. Anytime I put her on our bed or Ryan’s, she rolls all around and goes crazy.
Maisie loves being tickled and attacked, usually by Ryan. He gets pretty rough with her at times and she doesn’t seem to mind it at all, although it scares me to death.
When she is excited (usually when she eats or sees Mrs. Lori or Mrs. CeCe at daycare) she always moves her hands and feet around in circles. Cutest thing ever!
My cousin Eric made her and Ryan a rocking chair. She loves sitting in it and trying to rock.
One of her favorite things to do is play with the magnets on the refrigerator. It is a great way to entertain her while I’m trying to get things done in the kitchen.
She still loves her baths. I got her a bubble making toy for Christmas and she loves playing with the bubbles as they come out. Ryan loves putting her hair in mohawks, as evidenced by this picture:
Granny Brenda got her a really cute baby doll on the day we had Ryan’s birthday party. She loves to give her babies hugs. So sweet!
Here’s a picture of her in her Christmas jammies:
I tried to take her monthly picture on her actual 11-month birthday (which I hardly ever do), but she was having nothing to do with it as you can see. So, because I must have smiling pictures I had to put them off for a couple of days. Here is the first attempt:
And here are her smiling 11-month pictures. Much better!
These pictures were a challenge to take as she would lean all the way forward (to the point where I thought she was going to fall out of the chair), and then lean back real quickly so that the chair would rock. She had a fun time doing that and even stood up and got in the drawer of her changing table to pull out some diapers.
Happy 11-months, Maisie!
