Baby Bennett #2 – 30 Weeks

I am not doing well at documenting my pregnancy at all! And I can’t believe I’m already 30 weeks pregnant, going on 31!!!

Thankfully, I’m feeling pretty well. From almost the time I found out I was pregnant until about a month ago, I had an annoying cough that would not go away and I think it was from allergies. I finally got over that and felt fine for a couple of weeks and then the Saturday after Thanksgiving I somehow got another cough, but this one is the type that hurts! From what I hear it’s going around and usually lasts 3-4 weeks, so looks like I better get used to it! The only other problem I’ve had is lower back/buttock/leg pain if I do too much, so I try to take it easy and not overwork.  Oh, and I’ve had some occasional heartburn, but it doesn’t seem as bad as I had with Ryan.

The baby has been moving a lot. I don’t remember Ryan moving this much, although I’m sure he did. It seems like she turns somersaults constantly in there, but I love every minute of it and wouldn’t trade it for anything. Thankfully it hasn’t started getting uncomfortable yet, but I’m sure those days are right around the corner.  I had my 30 week check-up last Friday and had gained a total of 19 lbs.  I took my gestational diabetes test a few weeks ago and the results were fine, so that was good.  But I did find out that I was mildly anemic, so I’m having to take extra iron now.

We have decided on a first name for our baby girl, but not a middle name yet. Her first name will be Maisie, which was my Grandma’s (Mom’s Mom) name. I brought that name up for a girl before Ryan was born and Micah really liked it. I wasn’t so sure about it since it is so different and the only person I know named that was my Grandma. But as soon as we found out we were having a girl, Micah said that he wouldn’t consider another name, so Maisie it is! I want the middle name to be Grace because I love the name and like how it goes with Maisie, but Micah is pulling for Kay after his Mom. I like the name Kay, but don’t like how it sounds with Maisie, so we still have some talking to do. Hopefully we will figure it out before the baby is born, but I wouldn’t put money on it!

Ryan talks about his baby sister all the time.  He knows her name (but I think he calls her Macy instead of Maisie because there is a Macy at his preschool) and always wants to get stuff for her.  I know he is going to be the best big brother ever!

We are still working on the baby’s room. Micah repainted it a couple of weeks ago and I have got rid of a bunch of stuff in there, but we still have more to go. It’s mainly stuff that Micah will have to move, so I’m hoping that he has a free day soon and can get it cleared out. We finally decided on bedding for the crib and I absolutely LOVE it!! Here is a picture of it:

And we got a dresser painted this past weekend to match the bedding, so I’m super excited about that. Micah and Shaun picked it up today after work and I LOVE it!!  I found a girl on Craigslist that repaints dressers all the time and was able to match the paint to the bedding.  I probably paid a bit too much for it, but I figure we’ll be able to use it for a long time. It looks blue in the pictures below, but it is more of an aqua color.

We are looking forward to meeting MIss Maisie, but still have lots to do before she gets here!  And with Christmas less than 3 weeks away, I’m sure the time will fly by!
